Carolyn Thomas is one of four Members of the Senedd for the North Wales region, having been elected in May 2021 after being chosen by Welsh Labour party members as their top candidate for the regional list.

Carolyn was born in a prefabricated house before going on to grow up in council housing. Prior to being elected to the Senedd, Carolyn worked as a post woman, a postal clerk and a county councillor whilst bringing up a family. As a young woman, Carolyn worked on bars and as an au pair in Italy.

Carolyn’s working-class life has provided her with first-hand experience of the struggles faced by many people living across North Wales. As such, Carolyn believes everyone has a right to the best start in life, access to public services, an affordable home, a fair wage and working conditions, a clean environment and a health service that never denies the right of access to medicine.

In the Senedd, Carolyn chairs the Cross-Party Groups on Animal Welfare and Public Transport, as well as being the Vice-Chair of the Cross-Party Group on North Wales. Carolyn is a keen environmentalist and much of her work in the Senedd is aimed toward tackling the climate and nature crises.
